Which color should I try clip-on hair extensions?

I'm trying to grow out my hair and in the meantime would love to try alternative colored clip on hair extensions because I hear that ';real'; extensions damage the hair. My skin is light tan, my hair is brown and hits just below my shoulders, and my eyes are hazel.
